My first camera was given to me as a gift and with it struck my fascination towards the photographic process. Although I am a self-taught photographer, the history of photography inspires me. I prefer working with film in a dark room and consider the process to be a sacred form of art.
Photography not only documents a moment in time, but it captures a memory that cannot be forgotten. By using different lighting exposures, I have the capability to transform an object into a symbolic story. My images recall moments from my memory, and yet, I encourage the viewer to find their own connection to my work. I believe the observer should have the freedom to interpret the imagery with his or her own perspective.
